Origin Tutoring

Online tutoring · Ontario curriculum

We read the work before we talk about price.

Every student starts with a free 20-minute consultation. We go through their most recent test and report card, agree a target mark and the date it needs to happen by, and only then set out what tutoring would look like — in writing, before anything is charged.

At a glance

What we offer

Three services. One way in.

All three start at the same free consultation, so you never have to work out which one you need before speaking to anyone.

1-on-1 tutoring

One tutor, one student, built around their own coursework.

From $30 an hour

Sessions run from what is actually on your student's desk — the unit they are on, the test that is coming, the assignment that is due. Before anything is booked, a free consultation reviews their most recent test and report card so the first hour is spent teaching rather than getting oriented.

How 1-on-1 works

Group sessions

The same session, shared with people your student already knows.

From $12.50 per student

Identical in structure to 1-on-1 — same preparation, same consultation, same tutor standard — but you bring the group yourself. Siblings, or a couple of friends in the same course. We do not assemble groups from strangers, so everyone in the room already knows why they are there.

How group sessions work

Ascent

University consulting, for students applying to competitive programs.

Five checkpoints, bought individually or together

Application and admissions guidance, kept separate from tutoring because it answers a different question: not how to raise a mark, but where to apply and how to present the student who earned it. Ascent runs alongside tutoring or entirely on its own.

How it works

Three steps, and only one of them costs anything.

  1. 01

    Book a free consultation

Pick a 20-minute slot. We talk through where your student actually is, what is going wrong, and whether tutoring is even the right answer for it.

Free, and no payment details are taken

  2. 02

    Share some information

A short form: the mark you are aiming for and by when, whether you would rather we teach from your student's course outline or ours, and anything else we should know.

Takes a couple of minutes — attachments optional

  3. 03

    Choose a package

After the consultation, not during it. The tutor reads everything you have sent before session one, so the first hour is spent teaching rather than working out where to start.

Nothing is charged until you choose

The return

A degree changes the arithmetic.

Over a working life, university graduates in Ontario out-earn high-school graduates by a wide margin. We put the salary data on one page so you can weigh tutoring the way you would weigh any other investment in your child — with the numbers in front of you.

Talk to a person

Questions before you book are fine.

You do not have to book anything to ask a question. If it is easier to email first, do that instead.

About anything you send us

Anything you send is used only to prepare for your student's sessions, and is seen only by the people at Origin preparing them. It is never shared outside Origin, and you can ask us to remove it at any time.

Next step

Start with the consultation.

It costs nothing, it does not require payment details, and you are not expected to decide anything while you are on it.
